Should I buy a new cluster for my VW Mk4 Gti VR6? Should I buy a new one? My rpm doesn't work and my check engine (led) light doesn't either. Is there a way to fix this cheaper then it would to just buy a different one??

You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carquotes.sinfree.net

GMC . returning used vehicle recently bought from a dealer?

returning used vehicle recently bought from a dealer? i just bought a used 2009 mitsubishi outlander last friday and found out it was a rental car. i checked the car (i could have checked it before the purchase! i was so dumb i trusted them too much considering their BIG name) and i found dusts (as thick as you can imagine) everywhere even underneath the seats and inside compartments and hidden areas. looks like the car has been to the outback for months and not well taken care of. the previous owner (car rental) has its own service centre and the maintenance of the vehicle is not clearly stated. can i return the vehicle to the dealer? or demand an exchange at least? i forgot to mention the odometer reads almost 70K for two years of use from the previous owner. car insurance.

GMC . How to Paint Brake Calipers Efficiently

One way to really ensure that your car stands out is to add a little extra color behind the rims. If your rims have enough open space that you can see your dirty break calipers, then you can paint them as well. While most people paint their calipers red, there is no limit to the colors you may use. Some people also like to place decals on their calipers after the paint job is complete.

Remember, however, the painting calipers yourself, while not hard, is very time consuming. You will need to be able to devote at least six hours or more to the job, so choose a day when you will not be rushed to meet any obligations.

If you want your car to stand out above the rest, keep reading, and I'll show you how to paint calipers in a way that will not leave you dissatisfied.
Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need
Caliper paint of your choice color - may be purchased at any automotive store
A wire brush or new, unused toothbrush
Brake cleaner
Masking tape
A brick

Step by Step :
1
Choose an area where debris (such as grass, dirt, etc.) is not likely to fly and stick to the paint as it is drying. Securely jack your vehicle up as directed in your car's user manual so that the tire with the caliper you want to paint first is in the air. Place a brick behind the tire diagonal to the one you have jacked up to ensure that the vehicle will not roll. Ensure that the jack and the car are secure.
2
Remove the wheel from your car as directed in the user's manual and place it aside.
3
Using a wire brush or toothbrush and brake cleaner, begin to clean your caliper. Scrub thoroughly; your caliper should be clean and dirt free before you ever apply any paint or else the paint may not stick very well. If it takes 20 minutes to get your calipers completely clean, spend 10 minutes. Do not rush this process or you will have undesirable results.
4
Next, you need to prepare to paint your caliper. Put plenty of newspaper beneath the open area where your wheel used to be to ensure that paint does not drip everywhere. Then, cover the areas around the caliper that you do not want painted with masking tape to ensure that they remain untouched. A messy paint job looks extremely unprofessional and can negatively affect your cars image. Calipers may be small, but bad paint jobs stick out like a sore thumb.
5
Begin to apply the first coat of paint to the caliper using long, smooth strokes. Take your time. When the first coat has been smoothly applied, allow several minutes for the paint to dry (15-20 minutes should suffice). Once the first coat has dried, repeat the process to apply a second coat, let it dry ten more minutes, and apply a third coat if necessary. Remember, keep your coats smooth! Rough paint jobs look sloppy and are more likely to chip--I had to learn the hard way on this the first time I painted my calipers!
6
Wait 30 minutes to ensure that your caliper is dry. If you want to put a decal on your caliper, now is the time to do it. Remove the masking tape and remount the wheel. Let your car back down and ensure that the wheel is on tight.
7
Repeat steps 1-6 until you have painted each caliper. While some people only paint their vehicle's front calipers, most people prefer to paint all 4.
Tips & Warnings
A good way to spend the time while you are waiting for your caliper's paint to dry is by washing the inside of your dismounted wheel. It probably has months or perhaps even years of dirt and grime built up on the inner walls, so now would be a great time to clean the inside of your car's wheels. Begin by spraying it with break cleaner and scrubbing with a wire brush, and follow up by washing it thoroughly using a sponge and/or brush and car washing solution. You'll be surprised at how much improvement cleaning the inside walls of your wheels can add to your car's looks.

Regardless of how secure your car may seem to be when jacked up, do not get under it while painting; not only does avoiding this lessen the risk of injury, but it also lessens the likely hood that paint will drip on you.

Be sure to protect your eyes from the chemicals in the brake cleaner.

Ensure that you put each wheel back on securely by double checking the tightness of the lug nuts before you drive. Do not take chances!

Wait at least a few hours after you finish painting your calipers before driving.

Before you attempt to stunt in your newly modified ride, test the breaks to ensure that they are working properly.

GMC . How to Use a Disc Brake Caliper Tool Set

As in any other task, the proper tools can make all the difference in doing a brake job quickly and efficiently. It is certainly true that replacement of disc brake pads and calipers can be done without a disc brake caliper tool set, but it is equally true that it will take much longer to get the job done that way.
Difficulty:Moderately Easy
Instructions

Step by Step :
1
Jack the vehicle up and support on jack stands. Remove the front tires and set aside.
2Torx sockets in kit
Locate and remove the bolts that hold the caliper to the caliper bracket. Torx sockets are supplied in the disc brake tool set, but the bolts may not be torx head, in which case a hex wrench will remove them.
3Piston pushing tool (set up for a dual piston caliper)
Lift or pry the caliper out of the bracket and off the rotor. Use the piston pushing tool to force the caliper pistons back into the caliper. Two pushing screws are provided with the tool, use one in the center threaded hole on most single piston calipers, and both screws on most dual piston setups.
4
Use the square block with a socket wrench to turn the piston in on a rear caliper when the piston is threaded and not designed to push back in. This setup allows the parking brake to be applied without using a separate set of brake shoes for that purpose.
Tips & Warnings
Always support a vehicle on jack stands before removing any tires from a vehicle.

Place one end of the wrench on the bone behind your ear and, leaning over, place the other end of the wrench on the parts that seem to be the source of the noise. Be careful not to get a shock or get your hair tangled in the fan. If your brakes squeal, the brake linings may be glazed or worn. Some disc brake pads have built-in wear sensors that squeal when it's time to replace them. Even though some disc brakes tend to squeal under normal circumstances, it's safer to have the brakes checked, or follow the instructions in Chapter 18 and check them yourself. 926 Car Insurance cadillac catera 1997 sedan4d 13934

If the car idles with an offbeat rhythm, it isn't becoming creative; it's probably misfiring — one of the spark plugs or the wires that connect them to the distributor cap may be at fault. Try the following: • With the engine off, check the spark plug cables for breaks or shorts in the wiring. • With the engine off, remove the spark plugs one at a time and check whether they're clean and properly gapped. Replace any that are fouled or burned. If that doesn't help, have a technician check the ignition system with an electronic engine analyzer. People used to check spark plugs by holding the end of the spark plug cable close to a metal surface to see whether a spark jumped across when the engine was cranked, but the high voltage in most ignition systems now makes that procedure extremely dangerous. If the idling is rough but even and your vehicle has a carburetor, the carburetor settings may need to be adjusted. Chapter 13 shows you how to do this yourself. If that doesn't work, you may need to replace the carburetor. Fuel-injected vehicles don't have carburetors, and a technician must check and adjust these complex electronic systems. Try checking the compression in each cylinder, following the instructions in the section of Chapter 13 called "Checking the Compression in Your Cylinders." If the engine needs to be rebuilt, you may prefer to get another engine — or another vehicle.

An easy way to see whether your car is idling evenly is to place a stiff piece of paper against the end of the tailpipe while the car is idling (with the emergency brake on, please). Doing so amplifies the sound and enables you to hear the rhythm. A misfiring cylinder comes through as a pumping or puffing sound. An even but rough idle is a clue that it's time to retune your carburetor — especially the idle mixture and idle speed screws. Chapter 13 has instructions for doing this job. If your car sounds like a jet plane or makes some other loud, abnor mal sound, a hole in the muffler is probably the cause. Replace it immediately: Traffic cops hate noisy mufflers, and carbon monoxide hates people! Chapter 20: Troubleshooting Leaks, Squeaks, Smells, and Strange Sensations A O C If the horn is stuck, your vehicle is producing what may be the worst noise it can make. Before this happens, have someone honk your horn until you can locate it under your hood. There are usually two horns. Each has a wire leading to it. If your horn gets stuck, pull these wires to stop the noise (see Figure 20-2) — sometimes you have to pull only one. When you have the horn fixed, tell the mechanic that you pulled the wires and find out why the horn got stuck. (If you can't get at the horn wires, disconnect one battery terminal or pull the fuse that goes to the horn to stop the noise.) Figure 20-2: If your horn gets stuck, pull a wire to silence it.

If your car sounds like an old taxi, especially when you drive it on a bumpy road, it may just need lubrication (see Chapter 16). However, the problem might be worn shock absorbers or struts, suspension ball joints, or broken stabilizer links (see Chapter 11). You may get used to the squeaks and groans, but they also indicate wear, because they're caused by parts rubbing together or moving without the proper lubrication. Obviously, action is called for. The following section may be of help. Squeaks, Rattles, and Vibrations If you hear suspicious rattles, squeaks, or vibrations, you may be able to save yourself some money by checking and tightening the following items before seeking professional help: I *** Loose screws and bolts (Check both inside the vehicle and under the hood.)
